Volkswagen is leading the way: Anyone who buys the Passat, which was modernized last year, can use its streaming services with the appropriate equipment variant without a connected smartphone or additional SIM card. VW's integrated e-sim takes over this job, and the car manufacturer pays the costs. This works, for example, with Apple Music or Tidal, which can be integrated directly into the infotainment system. The package is called Online Connectivity Unit, OCU, and also connects to We Connect, the company's app and online platform.

In the VW Passat you need the Discover Media or Discover Pro navigation system for this. Both are given the suffix “Streaming & Internet” and cost a surcharge of 1100 and 3000 euros. The more expensive Discover Pro comes with the new digital cockpit, and Apple Carplay and Android Auto can be connected wirelessly. There is also voice control and an inductive charging cradle for the smartphone, traffic sign recognition and gesture control.

In contrast to the previous top system in the VW Touareg, the air conditioning settings are made with mechanical buttons and rotary controls as usual. But otherwise, switches and rotary actuators are largely dispensed with here as well. You even have to adjust the volume of the hi-fi system on the display, but two buttons on the steering wheel act as a emergency nail. The navigation learns The Discover Pro is operated solely via the touch-sensitive display, which protects a glass surface. We would not agree that the system is “always on”, as Volkswagen says. After the engine has started, many long seconds pass before the navigation system is finally available.

ThenThe system is known from the older model series, but some things are new. Proximity sensors show menus as soon as the display detects an approaching finger, and the main menu is fundamentally new. Tapping on the symbols takes you directly to individual functional departments. A tile named “Shop” brings up the option to purchase additional services. The main screen shows the familiar menus for navigation, telephony, radio and media playback in the details. Three-dimensional city models are new compared to older VW systems, and the traffic information is to work more with predictive, predictive models. As with other vehicle manufacturers, the navigation system also learns here, it records frequently used routes and suggests them. The slightly improved speech recognition remains at VW level and cannot keep up with other upper-class systems, although the manufacturer speaks of a "natural language control" that works with the cloud and online connection. And yes, the system responds to "Hello Volkswagen".

Wolfsburg. In 2014 he was even able to meet Prince Andrew at the VW plant, one of the best in his year. But after numerous escapades, VW has now pulled the ripcord: The car manufacturer has given notice to the former model apprentice.

A few months after the reveal of the GTI, it is now the turn of the Volkswagen Golf R to be seen in full, without any camouflage.

Remember, at the start of the year Volkswagen lifted the veil on its all-new Golf GTI, a few months after formalizing the eighth generation of its compact star. With 245 horsepower, this sporty variant had obviously created a following among enthusiasts, and above all allowed them to wait until the presentation of the R version, which will arrive a little later in the year. While the Wolfsburg firm has so far not wanted to give any details about this new addition to the catalog, we can however always count on social networks to have something to eat. Indeed, the Instagram account Cochespias, specializing in the publication of spy shots posted a few days ago an image showing the future Volkswagen Golf R without any camouflage. Enough to arouse the curiosity of internet users, while the interior is also visible in the photos.

At first glance, the differences with the GTI are relatively inconspicuous, and everything is played out here in the details. First, we notice the new R logo positioned in the center of the boot, just under the Volkswagen emblem. The rear here is very aggressive, with its new diffuser, incorporating no less than four tailpipes, while the upper part of the rear is more conventional. If the front has not yet been shown, the first images let in a particular glimpse the wheels of the sports car, dressed in very beautiful five-spoke rims, concealing blue brake calipers, distinctive of the R versions. A color that also found on the steering wheel. Just behind, we discover without surprise a digital instrument cluster, whose display should be specific to this sportier version. We will also probably have to expect exclusive upholstery.

More than 330 horsepower?
If we have therefore already been able to have a brief overview of the style of this future Volkswagen Golf R, it will however be necessary to be patient before knowing more about its technical sheet, while the firm has not yet not all of the press releases about it. Nevertheless, rumors are already rife, and many are already announcing the presence under the hood of the sporty 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI, the same that powers the new Audi S3 just unveiled. The Volkswagen compact, on the other hand, could supplant its cousin with the rings by offering more power, around 330 horsepower, against 310 for the Audi. Now, all we have to do is wait to find out a little more about this version styling the range, the revelation of which should not be too late, as the photos suggest, showing a car almost ready.

The Touareg is preparing to abandon the V8 TDI, an engine that it had recently been offering. Instead, Volkswagen will highlight the plug-in hybrid.

Volkswagen will soon withdraw the V8 TDI from the Touareg's offer. The brand has indeed just launched in Germany a special series called V8 Last Edition, limited to 400 copies, which will be available in the coming days.

This engine will, therefore, have made a quick passage under the hood of the third generation of the Touareg! It has indeed joined the catalog of the large German SUV in 2019. At the time, we were also surprised to see the return of such a proposal, thinking that the Dieselgate would have encouraged VW to abandon it. , but also the fact that brands are increasingly rationalizing ranges by erasing little-sold proposals.

As a reminder, this V8 TDI is a 4.0-liter unit that develops 421 hp and delivers a monstrous torque of 900 Nm. It is not particularly advantageous in terms of CO2, since it releases according to the WLTP standard from 242 to 260 g / km of CO2! This is also as much as the 340 hp V6 gasoline.

The end of the V8 TDI does not mark the end of diesel for the Touareg, since the V6 3.0 TDI of 231 and 286 hp remains. Instead of the V8, Volkswagen intends to highlight a new version of the Touareg, the sporty R. It receives a strong rechargeable hybrid gasoline engine of 462 hp. Thanks to its 14.1 kWh battery which can do several tens of kilometers on electric power, the R should avoid the penalty!

I have a 2013 Polo and I am running into a problem where only the left headlight side doesn't work. None of the lights works except the day light.
I checked the bulbs and they are perfectly working (tried them in the right one), I also tried to change the fuse and still having the same problem.
Can anyone help or suggest something?
